Question:

My new tattoo has gone wrinkled?

I got my first tattoo done 12 days ago on the side of my calf. Whilst alot of the scabbing has peeled away now the tattoo itself appears shiny and wrinkled.

It is hard to explain but it is almost as if there is a thin invisible layer over the top of my tattoo that is not held taught and is therefore wrinkled.

I am worried because it somewhat resembles the tissue that is over a scar i have elsewhere on my body. I'm going to go see the artist as soon as i can to ask him about it but in the meantime, any suggestions on what this may be, how it was caused and basically how to get rid of it if possible?

  1. I think mine looked like that around the second week too.  Give it a little more time and see how it looks.  I'm sure it's just healing.  Keep it moist!

  2. Well, your on the right path, there is a thin layer, but it's dead skin. you go through a few phases when you get tattooed. After the scabbing phase your usually gonna peel a bit cause the old skin is dying off. (remember your skin just got battered by the tattoo machine) no worries, I doubt your having any real problems, this is pretty common (more so on certain areas of the body than others). just keep mosturizing it and wait it out till the skin peels off. Your artist will probably tell you the same thing. :)

  3. I have one in the very same place and mine did it too! just rub baby oil on it 3 times a day and after a week it should be okay!!

  4. It is still healing...everything is okay

  5. That is normal . All my tattoos did that.. Enjoy

  6. That is a normal part of the healing process (at least it sounds like it, skin conditions can be hard to describe so without seeing it I couldn't say for sure).

Keep it moisturized with fragrence-free lotion and if it doesn't improve in a week or so, go back to your tattoo artist and have them look at it.
