My new warfedale dvd recorder with hdd turns on my tv when its recording?!!!! Can anyone help!? (dvdr24hd160f)

Its driving me mad!... tv is a bit of an oldie if that makes a difference.

DVD players (or R), like vcr's before them, are set to "kick" the tv over to automatically see what you are playing.  You can bounce back and forth to see what's on the DVD tuner and watch it on the tv during playback using the tv/dvd button on the remote.  

I only tell you this since it leads me to believe you have the tv set on standby or it's plugged into the back of the dvd or cable box and when you push "record" it causes the tv to pop on.

The only thing you could possibly do is plug it into a different socket.
