Question:

My new wrist rest for typing in work smells??

I got a new wrist rest for typing in work. It has gel on the inside and is covered with a soft material - BUT there is a terrible musty smell from it. It's like it got wet or something. It's horrible as I have to use it and can smell it all day long.

Why does it smell like this? Is the gel inside just smelly?

  1. Hey,  I understand.

I don't think it's from your sweat at all.

In fact, I think many of them come that way,

    some sort of byproduct.

Mine did not have gel in it, but it did smell like it had been soaking in something as strong as formaldehyde or paint, (LOL) when I got it brand new.  I had to wash it and leave it somewhere to air out and dry.

Usually, the smell does go away eventually.

But in the meantime, if you are lucky enough to find one that doesn't smell, let me know where you got it.  Okay?   ((((((smile))))))) i mean it.

    God bless, and Good Luck!

  2. Nice!! its probally the swet from ur wrist soaking into the material and then smelling foul. its like having a swet band that u have never washed. i doubt its the gel iv never smelt it but if u sayits sealed and not leaking then it very unlikly that its the gel. best way to clean is use soak it in a solvent such as FE10 or acetone alow to eporate and this should stop smelling. if that fails just get a new 1 that as a plastic cover instead of a fabric 1. hope this helps
