Question:

My newborn babys body

My 3 week old son has some white spots on his balls and 1-2 on the top area of his p***s what could that be?

The doctor thinks it could possibly be a reaction to diaper rash cream but the cream he gave me to try has the same stuff in it as the one i was using.

Do newborn boys get yeast infections to? Can it really go down there? If he had Thrush could that medicine end up helping the other part go away?

  1. Yes, newborn boys can get a yeast infection.  I would suggest letting him air out once or twice a day - let him go without a diaper.  Put a lap pad underneath and maybe just lay a washcloth over him so he doesn't spray you.

I would suggest also going to the store and comparing diaper rash creams.  I know there are several to choose from.  You can also try switch to cloth diapers for a while to see if it is an allergic reaction to disposable diapers.

If it does not go away or if it looks like it is getting worse, I would definitely take him back in and make sure to see a different doctor - just to get a different opinion.

  2. I think I'd defer to your doctor's diagnosis for what is causing the spots.

However, if you haven't already, try Boudreax's Butt Paste for diaper cream - it's very gentle. Also try unscented wipes and body wash - the fragrance in both those things irritated my son in that area.

  3. im pretty sure newborn boys can get yeast infections too...but its normally in moist areas!  does it seem like it is hurting him or making him uncomfortable? my daughter is 3 weeks old and has thrush in her mouth and it is hurting her a lot!

another thing it may be is from blocked sweat glands ?

  4. Yeast infections do happen on boys.  If the doctor says its yeast infection then all you need is over the counter fungal cream.  Just apply a really light layer when you change his diaper and the yeast will clear right up.
