My next door neighbor, she's such a nice woman, but the conversations with her is a torture

she go on and on about god knows what...then when i want to talk, she says she's got to go....

  1. Be patient and try to interject more.  She will either listen or leave you alone (which seems to be your point).

No, but say YOU'VE got something you need to do - or that you're tired from work etc etc - just don't get into conversations if you can avoid it - a wave and a smile is enough mostly!  I have a neighbour like that - i NEVER slow down, but am always friendly - she just likes the sound of her own voice - lol - Some people just like to use others as a sounding board.  Remember - NEVER SLOW DOWN!!!!! Just keep on moving a shout hello, how are you and GET INSIDE QUICK.

  3. No. You can't dictate other people's behavior. You can only dictate your own.

    I would suggest that you simply smile and wave at her when you come in contact and say "i would love to chat, but I am really late" and then move on.  This woman is NEVER going to let you talk because she doesn't want to hear anything that you say, she simply wants a captive audience.  

  4. How nice can she be when she dominates the conversation and then flips the off button after your have dutifully listened.

    The two of you are not having a conversation, it is a monologue -HERS.

  5. Just let it go, life is to short to let small things like this upset you. But you could do the same thing next time she wants to talk, just look at your watch and then exclaim Oh geez I have to run.

  6. Haha. In a nice way tell her you got to run whenever she keeps going. Always look busy when you know it's likely you will see her. Say a big hi and wave then run.

    I have a roommate who likes to talk a lot and very loud and doesn't listen. I always stay on the phone when I know he will be around and avoid getting into serious conversation with him.

  7. It's better to not do anything. If the wrong thing is said, you will feel uncomfortable just taking your trash-can out to the curb.

  8. Hahahaha that's funny. Just do the same thing. Be courteous and keep it moving. Who says that you have to listen to her boring stories? She certainly doesn't want to listen to yours.

  9. I have a friend that does that.  I have just learned not to try to talk when we go places together.
