I was at my brothers wedding about a month ago and i just now got to unpack my nice shoes because I finally have a place to put them. But when I pulled them out, they were covered in mold. I kept them in plastic bags and stuff. How did it get there, and how do I get rid of it, they're pretty new.

  1. Sounds like you put them in that plastic bag when they were damp...here is a remedy I have for mold & mildew 2 teaspoons  tea tree oil to 2 Cups Water.Put this in a spray bottle.Do not rinse...(you can get tea tree oil at a drug store or Wal-Mart).......Also >Distilled White Vinegar...use full strength...  Smell from both of these solutiond will dissapaite in  a few hours or so.

  2. the mold got to your shoes by moisture being inside the plastic bag, without moisture, mold cannot grow. High humidity works just as well as standing water in providing a suitable environment for mold growth.

Mildew is mold - a living organism that thrives in warm, humid environments.

to get rid of the mold,

Use a couple tablespoons bleach in a cup of water and an old toothbrush... After cleansed use leather saddle soap to maintain the leather... then use black polish.
