  1. Nevada State Rehabilitation Council

  2. When she left Special education, a committee including her teachers, parents and her should have created a transition plan. Did she want to continue school? Where? What modifications would be needed? Was she going to go to work? What was she trained to do in school? My friends son got his first job at Salvation Army.

  3. I'm not sure about an IQ test, who says she needs one?  Have you tried wal mart, or local grocery stores?  As long as she is able to understand the job and meet the requirements its totally illegal for them not to hirer her based on her special needs. Maybe you could talk to the managers of places ahead of time and explain without her knowing?  Best of luck.

  4. I would check with the local social services office. If no avail check with a local elected official. Lastly check with your local news paper they love to fight good causes and this is one.

  5. Here is what i would try.Contact your local Easter Seals, Helping people with disabilities gain greater independence

They Have job placement job Training independent living programs and so On.

If your really set on having her IQ checked for what ever reasons you don't say you can call your local community mental health clinic and ask if they or know of any one in your area who does neuropsychological assessment. This will give you a diagnosis as well as IQ scores.

Depending On the Iq score's and diagnosis google in your local state

department of mental retardation( respit services could be an idea),Health and Human Services, and department of mental health and ask for services. Now again you say special needs but your not to specific on what kind but for support and information if it is mental health related check out

nami National Alliance on Mental Illness

  6. an educational pyschologist woudl do an IQ test....

depending on the type of diploma she has--it may be difficult to get a job--if it is only a certificate of completeion/special ed diploma--places that require a HS diploma won't hire her.

She may be eligible for Vocational Rehab or services through the division of developmental disabilities if she meets that criteria..

As was said-the school should have worked on a transition plan with her----but now that she has graduated there isn't anything they will do --unless you sue them for failing to ensure an appropriate transistion.
