  1. to heavy of a load. put oil cooler, . transmission cooler. make sure you not in overdrive.

  3. I'll resist the temptation to say "cos it's j*p c**p" and try to answer the question My discovery does the same unless I flush the rad every year. Get a good radiator cleaner and follow the instructions. Do not refil with tapwater unless you have very soft water, use the pre-mixed anti-freeze or distilled water and antifreeze. If it still gets hot on big hills turn your heater on full blast and open the windows. Turn off everything that puts a load on the engine , like air con and any unnecessary lights.
