Cause some programs like norton comnder work even after expiration well, they only tell u to buy them with license.

  1. When it expires, it will keep telling you to get the new one (or subscribe again to upgrade the one you have). The important part of this is, the descriptions of viruses do have to be updated, as new viruses are being written and released every day.

Once it expires, if you don't want to pay another year, you will have to go to the Syantec web site and download the uninstaller tool. It does not have one built in, and it cannot be just plain deleted.

You will find a number of other, but free, anti-virus programs just as good, and in fact some of them will be faster and use less memory. The ones worth looking at are AVG Free; Avira and Avast!

Also get Ad-Aware (from Lavasoft) and Spybot S&D, as these look for different types of malware. These two will work now, even with the Norton installed.

  2. when it runs out it doesn't delete itself it tells you that you have to renew your licence, the note will keep telling you everytime you log onto your computer or unless you delete the software

  3. I agree with The Broom. But I have had great performance from AVG Anti virus. It is 100% free and works great.

  4. it will keep telling u to activate ur product or u can just reinstall ur windows and reinstall norton antivirus and u just renew ur license i guess

  5. When it expires I'd move on from Norton and install a free one that will work better and won't hog your resources like Norton does.

To remove it completely from your computer you will need to install and run the Norton Removal Tool as it doesn't like to go. http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsg...

I always recommend the following be stored on computers and install them myself on any I repair.

    Avast Home Edition http://avast.com

Run a full scan once a month. I find this the best free anti-virus software

    SUPERantispyware http://superantispyware.com

Update and run a full scan once a week.

    Spybot Search and Destroy http://safer-networking.org

Update, Immunize and scan once a week.

    ccleaner http://ccleaner.com

Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds

Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.

    Run this daily.

    Comodo Firewall http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Some people just prefer the Windows one but this is better.

Check that you don't need to defragment monthly and also run a Disk Cleanup monthly too.

Feel free to email me if I can be of further help

  6. it wont delete itself.

it would either stop working (detecting virus) or it will keep on pestering you to renew your license to continue its updates.

  7. Yeah...you pretty much have to renew the one you have..or if they have a newer version out, you have to go and buy that one.
