My notebook speakers arent working properly

I have a gateway notebook with Windows Vista. One day my speakers just stopped working. I have tried to download and install the driver for it again but it didnt work. I can use my headphones just fine. Only the notebook speakers are having a problem. Any ideas on how to fix my problem?

There might be a problem between the compatibility of the driver and the recent updates performed on Windows. Is the problem something that came along when you downloaded SP1? Chances are that its most likely something to do with the drivers, so I suggest to check around in forums and/or newsgroups related to windows or the specific laptop to find a solution. Since you haven't mentioned the type of laptop here, there isn't much we can do.
