My odometer Flashes between the Mileage and 'FUSE' on startup?

I have a 2000 Dodge Neon and when I go to start it up the odometer display flashes back and fourth between the mileage on the car and the word 'FUSE' I'm assuming that a fuse is out somewhere but I'm not sure which one because everything still works.

How can I know which fuse is causing it to display fuse?

  1. spent quite a bit of time looking on yahoo for an answer to this question, couldn't find one.  You might go into google and find some questions and answers concerning this problem.

  2. read the owners man. maybe a maxi fuse under hood elec. center

  3. your IOD fuse is out, it should be in your fuse block, little yellow case, make sure this fuse is bottomed...

make sure your radio does not keep memory when the ignition is off.

  4. Has it always done this?  It could be that the instruments are just going through their self diagnostic check upon startup.

  5. You going to have check all electrical items on your vehicle, and see what is not working.

    1/ Head Lites

    2/ Dash Lites

    3/ Turn Signal Flashers

    4/ Emergency Flashers

5/ Has the vehicle been in a accident, and nothing has been shorted out and or disconnected?

6/ Check interior components are they working, and have you had any changes done inside the vehicle like installing a new radio, does the cigarette lighter work?

7/ Have you spoiled a fluid inside your car, which couldve shorted out something.

8/ Having a Blown  fuse can be tricky since some of these are hidden in body panels or under the hood.

9/ Need to know what is not working, then find the fuse, then the cause, fuses do not normally go bad, but blow out for a reason.

10/ Chech Vehicle grounds, and connections to the battery, and poor connections, or corroded.

  6.   It does not say fuse, it says BUSS, you may be missing some segments in your display.

What this means is that the PCM has lost its ability to interface the other vehicle computers and the bus system.

This is often caused by a blown fuse though,  funny enough

      check all fuses
