My old dishwasher (the racks were messed up) left rust on my Corelle plates. What will remove the rust?

I have tried comet, CLR, Magic Eraser and vinegar, these things will not remove the rust. If you have any idea of what will, I would really appreciate hearing of them. Thanks

  1. I would try a mix of lemon juice and baking soda. If that doesn't work, I have gotten many, many kinds of stains out of the kitchen area by using a dishwasher powder/Bon Ami recipe I found at The New Homemaker... it took a rust-ring off of my kitchen linoleum counter.

  2. I would ask the Corningware company.  You might try an SOS pad.

  3. I would use a non-abrasive cleaner like Bon Ami cleanser.  Use a soft cotton or nylon cloth, and rub the rusted area gently.  I have used this stuff for years, including on my car to get tough stains out.

  4. I would try runnning a cycle with the affected dishware using "Iron-Out."  My racks haven't rusted yet, but my crappy well-water made the interior of my dishwasher orange with rust.  A good heavy-duty cycle with "Iron-Out," and my diswasher looked like new.  I cant see why this wouldn't work on Corelle (which I also have).  In fact, I do have a rust stain on one of my plates from sitting in the sink too long with an old cookie sheet.  I'll try it right now and let you know.  Good luck.

  5. I have had luck using a product called Bar Keepers Friend.  It is in the grocery in the cleanser aisle.
