I live w/my older brother who is a cop and also think he's my dad. he's 6 yrs older than me, i'm 17.

( both my parents are in the military, usmc)

dont get me wrong but sometimnes we fight for no reason(typical brother/sister thing in all families).

anyways, everytime I do something wrong in the house he threatens to arrest me because he saids he's the "law".

one day I came home late from a party w/ friends, he tries to arrest me in front of my friends in my room. oh and 3 weeks ago, he even tried to arrest my male friend for using the restroom and see that as "tresspassing his property"

he even threatens to arrest me for sleeping late!!!

omg, what should I do???!!!

  1. Sounds like, at 17, you are more mature than your brother. If you are in the UK threaten him with "trespass against the person" and "unlawful imprisonment". These are the common law remedies for wrongful arrest in England & Wales. Scotland & N Ireland have similar torts.

For you I would suggest you just tell him to f##k off. For your friend, I would suggest that he threatens to report him to his superiors by way of formal complaint.

That should wise your smart a55ed brother into behaving himself.

    xx VP

  2. ask him if he has ever heard of a thing called "color of authority"?

  3. Your brother is a being a complete jerk, I have an older brother also and he never harrassed me as your brother is doing. And he isn't joking he is just being a complete jerk. I would look for your own apartment.  He is on some power trip. Typical cop.

  4. Your brother needs to grow up and needs not be on the police force.

  5. That is actually called obstruction of justice or abuse of power and is a crime report him for it if he ever does arrest you and I suggest you start taping all of your conversations so you have proof.

  6. I think you brother is just being over protective.  I mean it can't be easy having to raise a 17 year old sister.  Notice that he never actually arrests anyone, does he?

Have you considered approaching your brother, not when you are fighting, just to talk and set up some guidelines.  Like what does he expect from you?  Chores?  Curfew?  And what you expect from him: courtesy, respectful treatment, not to threaten to arrest you for sleeping!  Maybe have one of your parents or another family member or trusted mutual friend present.  You are both adults.

Otherwise, move in with your parents or play by his rules until you are 18 and can move out on your own.

  7. Typical older brother stuff. I'm the same with my younger sister.

Just tell him you don't like it.

  8. Put a big Ego in a uniform and see what happens..

no wonder the country's in the state it's in...

  9. He sounds challenged. I hope he is kidding if he is serious call his job and speak with his boss. That should knock out the craziness. He needs to move out on his own.

  10. Threaten to report him for harassment or police brutality  the department wont stand for it if hes being serious

  11. First thing is grow up and act like an adult.  After that the rest is easy.  "omg" how old are you really?

  12. Move out.

  13. Does'nt work like that, coppers look after themselves mate,Ive known police kith and kin get their own off for some serious offences here in the UK

  14. Just thank god you dont have my sister.

  15. hes fooling with you OMG you teens cannot even take a joke these days

  16. i would file a restraining order on him...because he cant arrest you for any of those things non of them are actuall crimes..and he cant arrest you because it will be knows as a "conflict of interest"..
