Question:

My one front tooth feels really tight from braces, is this normal?!?

I got braces like 4 weeks ago and 2 days ago my one front tooth feels really tight. And I'm really concerned cause it's a bonded tooth. If i press my tongue against my gums on the back of my tooth it feels tight. I hope i explained this clearly enough. Should i just tell me ortho for my next appointment?

BTW i didn't get my braces tightened yet, i do in September.

Thank you

  1. I had braces too, and they felt normal after a week or two. They didn't really feel tight; they just made my teeth sore. If you have a chain on your teeth, thats probably why. If you don't though, you should probably tell your orthondontist. Good luck!

  2. Hello there,

You see, I have braces too! And I know exactly how it feels. Well, it does feel tight sometimes, and don't worry, it is perfectly normal. This is because the braces are like "forceful" to your teeth, and of course, when you press your tongue against your gums, it WILL feel tight.

I do not think you should tell your orthodontist.

This is totally common and you just have to get used to it :)

  3. the bracket is pushing pressure on the tooth wich has bonding wich is on your tooth this is normal and just clearly explain your worrys and problems to the orthodontist

  4. yea the feeling should go away in a few weeks i just got my braces on 5 weeks ago and they fell tight and then lose and they hurt to ite down sometimes its all normal! so dont think there is something wrong there isnt sometimes its only one tooth that means the braces are working on that tooth like the first week it was tree of my bottom teeth and then it was one of my molars! hope this helped you!
