He has been eating and puking all night. He will eat a couple ounces of formula, wait a good 10 minutes, then will puke it up, then wait 5 minutes, and be crying like he is starving, so I feed him, then it starts all over again! I changed his formula yesterday from Enfamil thats Milk based to Enfamil thats Soy based. What else can I do?

  1. Call the doctor!!!!!!  Get him seen as soon as possible.  It could be any number of things and some of them could be serious especially in a 1 month old.

  2.    Call the doctor. He may have acid reflex or be intolerant to the formula and they might have a certain kind of formula for him to take.

  3. hi there. a friend of mine had the same problem with her son, took him to emergency and they said that he was just a very hungry baby and gave him something to thicken the formula so that it would stay down.

    hope this helps

  4. Get the child to a hospital or doctor. Sounds like croop to me sweetheart.

  5. It can happen. some baby's can't keep food down. and all throw up on a regular  bases. usually just a couple teaspoons.

  6. It can take a while to find a formula that works for your son.  I know of some women who had to buy the premade formula (not the canned stuff) because the pre made ones were easier to digest.  Also I would call your sons dr and get him checked for reflux.  When he throws up does it go far or is it more like spit up.  There is something called pyloric stenosis where babies throw up a lot and it goes far when the throw up (like it comes out with a force) either way he should get an upper gi to check for reflux.  My son had one and he did have reflux, so the dr put him on meds and we haven't had a problem since.  Also try to get a formula with rice cereal added like enfamil ar or add some rice cereal to the bottles yourself (check with your dr of course) I HATE rice cereal and don't normally tell moms to use it but if your son can't keep his food down this should help because it thickens the formula. Good luck and I hope you get it figured out soon.

  7. My Mom said I used to do this when I was a baby. I think she just carried on until I took it down but it doesn't really sound too promising. Maybe you should take him off Enfamil. At least talk to your mid wife about it.

  8. It is probably the new formula you are giving him, try switching back. If he dosnt improve you must take him to a doctor - he could have an upset stomach or something. And dont forget about dehydration - if he is vomitting alot and cant manage to keep anything down then you need to try get him to take some cooled boiled water. Good luck, I hope he is ok x

  9. make sure you burp him even in between the feed it will help my daughter does the same thing

  10. Try your old formula in the short term.

Call your pediatrician ASAP.  It's becoming more and more common for babies to have reflux, so he really should be checked.

    Good luck.

  11. Don't change the formula without first talking to your pediatrician. It could be reflux. His stomach could be reacting to the soy also.

  12. okay, im gonna jump the gun here and assume that ur doc advised u to change the formula?....otherwise u wouldn't have done it would u?????  ok..i'll have faith in assuming that. he could have a tummy bug.....or he could have reflux. (easily treated).....how are his bowel movements?....and why would his formula be changed?...at 1 month? how has he been with his formula since birth? it doesnt add up. i need to hear more info please. i think i can help u.
