I have two pet mice right now and one is quite old, more than a year and the other one is younger, a couple months old. And recently noticed that the older one has been breathing harder than before. Is that just and old age thing? Also, the old one looks like she is getting humpedbacked. What's that about? With the young one get like that too when she gets older? Can I do anything to help it?

  1. Sounds like a resp. infection to me. Mice can easily live to be over 2 years old, so she's only half-way into her life-span - she is sick and needs to be treated. The vet will most likely give you some Baytril (an antibiotic); most resp. infections can be treated fairly easily.

  2. Life Span of Pet Mice: about 1.5 to 2 years.

so yes it may be partly to do with age

some say 2 - 3 years and some 6 but most around the 2 mark
