Question:

My one year old hates getting water in his eyes?

He loves baths but hates water in his eyes. Even when I get him to tilt his head back so I can pour water on it to get the soap out, the minutes the water hits his head, he puts his head back down and it all runs in his face. I don't want him to be uncomfortable when I wash his hair. Anyone have any ways I can rinse his hair without getting water in his face? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

  1. I also had the same problem with my two girls when they were little.  I also did what sweetiel... (your first answer) did.  It works great and they think it is fun putting the goggles on.  It kinda became a game.  In fact that is how both of my girls started to hold her breath under water.  They both loved doing it.

  2. We went through this recently.  My 3 year old was terrified to get water in his eyes or go under water just 2 weeks ago but now I can't keep him out of it, lol.  I asked a similar question and had a lot of responses suggesting goggles; that seemed to help my son the most.  If it's just the water in his eyes when rinsing his hair, they sale a cup at Wal-Mart (baby section) that is used to prevent this.  You just put it against their forehead and pour it back while tilting their head.  The shape of it (flat in front) helps prevent water from getting in their face.

  3. my son is the same way. most young toddlers are like this at this age. what I do is that I pour water over the back of his head, and when I get to rinsing the top of his head and the front, I use a cloth and rinse it out that way. just use the wet or damp cloth and keep cleaning until all the soap is gone.

  4. Wal-mart has a cup designed for just this situation.  It is in the baby department and cost around $5.  It is hard plastic with a soft rubber inset that goes against babies head so that the water will not run down.

  5. Get a pair of swimming googles and use them, I did and the kids loved it
