With some of the regular tests during my eye exam, objects would disappear and then reappear. Also things seem to have a yellow tint to them through my left eye. I am having some kind of test done in three weeks. He said there would be flashing lights, and he would be checking to see when they appear and when they don't.

Is this something to worry about?

  1. A tumour is a possibility, I'm afraid, with those signs and symptoms, but there are other possibilities too.

    Pseudotumour cerebri, for instance:

(Benign intracranial hypertension as it is sometimes called)

How long have you had symptoms?  If they are relatvely new, three weeks seems a bit long to wait for a field check.

If they've been present for months then there may be less urgency.

A brain scan is likely to be required at some point.

The headaches and vomiting suggests something other than a purely optical problem.

You are right to show some concern, but provided you are under proper investigation, try to pass it over to those looking after you.  It's *their* job to worry and find out what's going on.

    Best wishes,

  2. I agree with pedestal42. If the symptoms are recent then you be referred to a hospital as well as having the visual field check (flashing lights test).

You infer both optic nerves are swollen. The term for this is papilloedema and the most likely cause is raised intracranial pressure i.e. your head pressure is up. Vomiting and headaches are possible.

    Should you worry? No.

Should you speed things up? Only if the symptoms are fresh

  3. dont worry, go to the doctor and see wuts goin on
