When the trial was over and I was very pleased with the results I decieded to wear them full time. On my free trial appointment I was told the cost would be £9.00 per month. When i went back I was told my plan would cost £8.00 per month. That did not include my lenses. Which cost £12.00 per month at this time. I asked what the £8.00 was for and was told proffesional fees. Included on that was an eye test when needed. Relacement lenses if needed, check up when needed. Do all opticians charge a proffesional fee of £8.00 per month on top of the cost of the lenses, seems like they're charging me this additional fee just to order my lenses for me. Is this standard practice?

  1. Your optician is legally obligated to provide you with a copy of your prescription, so if he's playing games with you regarding this, it might be worth looking for another optician.

You don't have to sign up for a payment plan for contacts either. You can get your contact lens prescription from your optician too, and buy lenses from another optican or online, but your prescription must be less than 2 years old, but then of course there's no aftercare, so if you run into problems with the lenses, you're on your own unless you book another eye test.

  2. depending on the lenses you have been perscribed the prices for the lenses vary. Why dont you ask for your perscription for your contact lenses which you should have been given and try another optician and see what they are charging.  Ive worn contact lenses for years and i just pay for the lenses but i still get an eye check every two years which is recommended.
