My orthodontist did not put Spacers before I got my braces? why didn't he?

When I got my braces on July 8. They did not put any spacers. What are they for and will i get them? I also got 4 teeth exxtracted after I got my braces. I did not the wires all the way back to my molars. i Do have the brackets on the molars but not the wire. But What are the spacers for and will i get them? SHould I have gotten some?

  1. Spacers do exactly what they say they do, they leave spaces once the braces are gone. If you have no need to have spaces between your teeth, then the orthodontist won't have put in spacers. It is also possible that he/she is just waiting until they are more necessary or until he has a better idea of what your mouth is going to do. It is possible that you might get spacers, but if he didn't put them in to start, I don't think he will. Don't worry about it, though the spacers aren't necessary and your teeth should be fine.


  2. if you have enough space between your molars, they won't put them on. spacers just make room for the bands that hold up your braces.
