I have a outdoor lilly plant (sorry I cannot be more specific as to its name), it has lots of green buds, however, none have opened yet, some of the buds have black tips and I have noticed that some of the leaves have black patches on. I am really worried about it and I am looking for some advice as how to make it better if it is unhealthy. I did everything I was told to do when I bought it (re potted it in a large pot where the water can drain from the bottom, put it in peat free spoil and keep it watered) so now I don’t know why it is not in very good shape. Should I remove the leaves with black patches on, does it need some kind of plant remedy (I read on a website that it could be fungus and to get a copper oxychloride spray for it but website wasn’t specific about plant type or what this spray was/where I could get it etc and didn’t have much advice at all). I am from the UK, I just thought I would add that in as it might be of some use.

  1. The spots could be caused from over watering.  Make sure you let the soil dry out between waterings.  I also suggest looking into fungus sprays because they wouldn't hurt even if your lily didn't have an infection.

Worse case scenario you can dig up the bulb, cut off stalk and preserve it and plant it next spring.
