  1. First of all I am a huge equestrian and I would like to tell you that kicking a horse (as long as she only does it once and if the pony is acting up) is not abuse, but I can understand that you would feel sad and guilty that your pony is being punished. I had the same problem with my trainer and I just said to her "Are there any other methods for disciplining her other than kicking her because I am not comfortable with that, but I would like to be able to teach her right from wrong. It really does work and she/he will (hopefully) admire you for your honesty and openness to learning.

    Now about your pony issue....

I know that you may want the pony yo be yours now but there are only two things to do. 1). Wait for the year and show your mom that you love horses ( also pouting will not get you anywhere other than a grounding) or 2). Always spend every opportunity at the barn and be sure to get your homework ( if you are a student) and any other chores done first. That will show your mom that you are responsible and ready to balance a horse and your life. Also try to get your mom to spend time with you and your pony (maybe borrow someones horse and go for a trail ride) to show her that this pony is great and that you two have developed a bond.

Hope this helps and good luck!!!!!

  2. Difficult one.

The reason your mum has said you need to loan for a year is for you to prove you will stick at it.

Best plan is to spend as much of your time as you can at the yard looking after and bringing the pony on.  If you can bring her on and get a bit of weight of her, and it seems find a better instructor who knows what they are doing, then that should show your mum you are investing your time and energy for this pony, and it might go some way in persuading her that you will stick with it.  In addition get yourself as clued up a possible on how to train and look after your pony.

    Good luck

  3. persuade your mum by saying you have been riding her for ages (only if you have) and looking after her for so long (again only if you have) that it was pretty much like having her on loan because you now all about her manners and how she is to ride so having her on proper legal loan is not really needed because you know that u will look after he rand u know her manners so you can go ahead and buy her because u know her

  4. Prove to her that you'll look after her - get her on loan and look after that pony so well that your mother will have no argument with you about being ready to own her!

    xx

  5. Your lucky! I know its a bit of a cliche but you should be glad you've got one on loan. I know it can be frustrating I've been wanting a horse for as long as i can remember and im only just in a position where i might be able to get one, even thought i had one on part loan last year (until his owner and him moved away) If your mums thinking of buying it for you at the end of a year thats great! Maybe she just wants proof that you will look after it and continue to be enthusiastic. I know it sounds strange to true horsey lovers but some people do get bored (i have no idea how!)

  6. Your lucky you even have a pony on loan.

  7. You should feel lucky to have a pony on loan at all! I'd look on the bright side - your mum says that you have to have her for 1 year +. That means she is considering buying her for you! Just wait it out! I know it can't be easy though.

    :-)
