In my house we have 2 home phones, one is the families and one is mine, the thing is how much would it cost to have my own private number?

You can do one of 2 things.

Get a BT Callsign Number on your existing line. This gives you another number at the same area code. See this Website

just get a cell phone with a good plan.

depends on the company.  Get a new line, its like 29.95 with IO, and relly good.

or get vonage for $10 a month

Depends on your carrier, better check on their site.  Single line costs around $25 - $30 a month with most basic services for me.
