  1. She is a minimally white marked Overo paint. Yes she is very pretty. You have a nice horse.

  2. Abbi is very cute.

    She is an Overo.

  3. Very cute little overo - and I just felt I had to comment on how happy you look on her.  That is so nice to see, I bet you two have a ton of fun together.

  4. You have an Overo Paint. She is very cute.

  5. You both look great together! She looks like an overo to me. Pretty girl!

  6. I could only see the first picture.

But Abbi seems to be a well suited horse to you in size - you look very cute - it's nice to see a young girl like you having so much fun with your friend Abbi.

Abbi appears to be an Overo - you asked what "kind" of paint she is, we can only assume you mean her color as a horse that's registered as a Paint is only one "kind".  Some people have paint horses that are more of Quarter Horse descent and some are more of Thoroughbred descent and they define "kind" differently.

Paint horses are generally of two coloring types: Overo and Tobiano

Overo means the darker color (usually brown or black) covers the spine and the area down the middle of the belly - you could think of it as the white not going across the horse from one side or the other - it often looks like a dark horse has been wiped with white paint on both sides.

Tobiano means the white does go across the spine, neck or belly - and these horses are usually patchy color.

within each of these colors you can have the typical horse colors - for example, I have a 5 year old mare that's Bay Tobiano - if she had no white, she'd be bay with black legs, mane, tail, ears and muzzle.  But she's got a lot of white - one hock is black, her tail is half black, her mane is half black and her ear tips and muzzle are black.

If she were bay with white on just her sides, not across her back or belly, she'd be a Bay Overo.

You would probably have fun finding a poster of the colors of Paint horses.  If you are not a member (or your parents, I should say), you can purchase them from the American Paint Horse Assn.  Or, I would suggest you go to a local horse Expo - in Michigan we have one every spring, there's a big one in Ohio every spring - out east, out west and down south.  Usually, if you go to a big Expo somewhere close to you, breed associations will have booths at these.  If the local Paint Horse Association has a booth (The Michigan Paint Horse Association has one at our big one in the spring), you'll usually find a bunch of these posters there.

The American Paint Horse Association has a Junior organization - AjPHA - this is geared towards kids like you and recognizes your accomplishments with your horse.  I would suggest you talk to your parents about perhaps getting you involved - the AjPHA has a lot of good information available to its members and you get points and awards - like you can get involved in programs that recognize the hours you spend riding your horse.  After so many hours, you get a patch or something.

You and Abbi have fun and be careful!

  7. Abbi's an overo chestnut with a flax mane and tail.  I love the way her eye is lined with dark while still surrounded by white, like she's wearing eyeshadow.  I had a friend with one like that, she named her Maybelline after the makeup company.

She's cute, and you look good together.  Have fun with her!

  8. abbi is an overo paint (:
