My painted turtle has a pinkish rash almost, on the bottem of his shell, has this ever happened to anyone? also how do i tell if my light for the tank is UV or not, there is algea growing off of the thing over the light, does that mean that its UV?

There could be a number of things wrong with your turtle shell such as infection. So i think you should take your turtle to a good reptile vet. You should also check out the tortoise trust site and check to see if your tank set up could be contributing to this rash. And you should know if your lamp is UV by the packaging you bought it in. You usually have to change most UV tubes every few months. So i think it would be better you just bought a brand new one so you know for sure if it is UV.
