My palm m505 does not respond. any ideas?

i put the palm on the dock, it started on the setup screen, then faded, and gave me lines and faded out. then it got hot, and smelled like something burned.. but i still put it on the dock and the light turns orange, then pull it off and the light turns green. but no screen activity at all. just an unpowered screen. do you know what it could be?
