but there is no audio...do I need a seperate special cord for hdmi audio?

i switched my tv to cable with my remote and i have audio. but only picture without audio when i switch to hdmi 1 with my remote control. is it bad to have both systems hooked up? why cant i get audio at the hdmi spot with my remote. I only get audio when i switch to cable 1. I paid a lot for the hdmi cable. please help!!

  1. Check how you output audio via HDMI from your set-top box. Most TVs can't play Dolby Digital via HDMI, so switch your set-top box settings to outut audio in PCM mode.


  2. check ur tv set up and see if u have to change ur audio setting  to hdmi  and also on ur cable box settings as well gl

  3. 1. some cable boxes do not output audio via HDMI - check the back of the cable box for red and white audio outs associated w/ the HDMI port.

    2. check the HDMI audio settings in the TV in the setup or audio menus.  possibly under an "other adjust" setting.

    3. check the HDMI audio output settings of the cable box (if applicable) and make sure they match what your television can pickup.
