  1. Find the cause of this before doing anything.  Do not take it to a vet unless you have LOTS of money.

  2. just in time. it will heal. the same thing happened 2 my bird and it healed in about a month. :). takes patience.

  3. it's swollen and crusty? Honestly I really think you should take him to the vet because it's most likely broken and it's severely painful =(, I mean just imagine trying to walk around with a broken foot lol. For now I think you should take away the perches and toys put a towel or shirt, something soft at the bottom of the cage and his food and water at the bottom as well so he will be forced to rest, you don't want his foot to get worse. You can put a mirror on the side of the cage at the bottom too so he wont get bored.

  4. give it some massage and maybe medicine but wrap it real gently so it doesnt eat its feet.

  5. Time, sorry but that is the best remedy

  6. take it to  a vet??

  7. I don't think you should touch it. It could be swollen because it is injured somewhere. Don't touch it otherwise it could cause it more pain. I suggest you take it to the vet immediately before it gets worse. Something could've bit it by accident.

  8. wrap it in guase and the swelling may go down

  9. Have you checked out the birds ankle and foot very closely? Sometimes something as small as a human hair can get wrapped around a birds foot, toe or leg and when the bird starts pulling on it it tightens up. Then the circulation off from that part of the limb. Then it starts to swell up. Check for this.

Also there is a condition called bumble foot. It is a cyst like sore on the pad of the foot. You can dissect this cyst and it looks like scrambled egg. You can clean it out with peroxide. When it is cleaned and quits bubbling up then put some alcohol on it. Then put some salve or anti septic on it. If neither of these is the problem you could maybe have a scaley mite infection on his foot. They lay their eggs under the scales on a birds leg or foot. They can be cured by holding the birds foot in some light oil for a minute or two for about seven or eight days in a row. This will suffocate the mites and their eggs as they hatch out.
