Usually my bird's p**p is green and white. And recently the part that's usually white, is a tinted yellow!! I heard that yellow urates is a sign of liver problems or Chlamydophila (which I have no idea what that is)...

Anyway, I don't have access or money to an avian vet. What the heck do I do?!?!

  1. Chlamydophila is caused by bacteria.  It can be transferred from birds to humans, so make sure to use proper hygiene after handling.  I would look up bird books, such as Birds for Dummies.

  2. The best thing you can do right now is to keep an eye on your bird.  A change in color can be a sign of illness.  The Chlamydophila tends to have othe symptoms as well though such as lathargy, overly ruffled feathers, serious nasal discharge, the urates will be extremly runny and sticky, etc.

The color change could also be from a change in diet too.  Have you noticed that it is eating more of the yellow or orange pellets if it has any in its food?  Sometimes if a bird decides to focus on a certain color in their food, their urates will reflect that.  My african grey for example sometimes desides to only eat his red pellets for a while and ends up with bright red urates but is still perfectly healthy.
