She fell of her perch she slept on the bottom of her cage and she's been eating A LOT and then instantly falls asleep. She also never lets me pet her since I have two of them and today she seemed to let me pet her a lot and she is just acting very strange for her usual self.

  1. She may be sick. Check her water, is it dirty/empty? You should fix that immediately, or just replace it with fresh water. The fresher, the better. She may be very tired, the other budgie may be hitting her, possibly when you are not there to witness it. Budgies can get very possessive of their territory. Trust me, I have 5, I used to have 6, before one died because of the territorial behaviour.

I say keep an eye on them, and perhaps even consult a vet. Throw her in a few chopped up carrots & lettuce. My budgies LOVE that, & it always makes them happier. They jump up on the tips of their little claws to try to grab them before I even put them into the cage xD

Check your bird's physical appearance to diagnose her. If she has a clogged nose, and her wings are hanging, and she is possibly losing her feathers, then she is sick! You could even go to the petshop & look at some of the stuff available there that could help her, but I suggest you let her have a nice comfortable rest, possibly away from the other budgie, and keep her well fed, and hydrated, until she's healthy again.

When she is, place her back with her companion and see how it goes.

Good luck & everything will be fine :) Don't worry.

  2. Sounds like she's moulting.  Make sure she has plenty of food

and water and try some liquid vitamins for birds. Any pet store

or pet supply area of a store should have them.  Read the

directions on how many drops to how much water you have.

The water will turn yellow, but that's normal.  Give fresh water

every day.  Watch out for the other bird, though. If its a male

they may be mating.  But if not, you might want to separate

her from the other one for awhile and see if she changes. Like

one of the other answerers said, some parakeets get very

terratorial and will actually try and kill the other bird.  I know

because unfortunately it happened to one of my birds.

        Good luck!

  3. Avian vet!  A bird only acts that way when it's too weak to act healthy!  She doesn't have much time left and needs medical care now!

  4. im not an expert at this but if its a female its ither sick or pregenet

  5. What are you doing on yahoo anwsers? Shes very weak and needs a vet to keep her alive. Get her to the vets office before its to late. Good luck.

  6. Anytime a bird acts differently than normal, you need to take it to the vet.

Birds are creatures of habit...that she fell off the perch and slept alot sounds like she's very sick.

Birds do not show signs of illness until they are very sick, make an appointment ASAP!

  7. She is sick and will die faster than you would think...if she does not normally let you pet her, this is a big sign on top of the other symptoms you have described. Only immediate vet care can diagnose what is wrong, not all illness can be diagosed 100% but I have seen a lot of sick birds pull through with a good general antibiotic as well as ornabac supplimented to their diet.

  8. Vet....OR....Call this number::856-910-1400

  9. Aww, I miss my budgies. My stupid brother let 2 of them escape and I became angry and sold the rest.
