My parakeet is at least eight years old. lately he is making a constant repetitive sound except when covered.?

He has a female cage mate and the two of them live in a large flight cage.Is he okay?

Can you describe the sound?  It is mating season so he might be trying to woo her, or he may have picked up and started repeating a sound he really likes.  My budgie is 5 and just started imitating my cockatiel's mating call.

i'd have to agree, he's trying to get her attention. put them together in a smaller cage so they can do what they want to do. it's normal, and will stop when everything is going his way.
