My parakeet laid a egg, HELP???

Question

I've got 3 males and a female parakeets in my cage. Now I just found a egg in my cage and i'm lost with what to do now. I have been reading the previous posts about what I should do. I have placed a nesting box and material for the mom to but what should I do with the males in the cage. Should I place the males in another cage? I see one of the males that is always with the mom so I am thinking its the dad.

What should I do with the males in my cage?

its all up to you really cuzz the male defends the female and its eggs so it doesnt really matter

but if you want to be on the safe side then go ahead

it depends, if you dont want to breed them then buy then seperarte cages but if you dont want the egg i guess give it to the vet and let them take care of it, but if you do want them to breed then read books to find out what to feed them,

And don't worry it's in the bird's nature

If you wanted to breed your birds, you should have had a nest box in the cage a while ago.  The female normally stays in the nest box with the eggs, and the male will sit on the eggs while she takes a feeding break and drinks and relieves herself.  After the eggs hatch, he helps feed the babies.  Parakeets don't use nesting material in the box, it should have a small hollowed out area in it for the eggs to rest.  The nesting box needs to be in the cage a month before the birds breed so they get used to it being in the cage, and investigate the interior of it.

Parakeets are colony breeders, so you can have one male breed with multiple females.

You shouldn't need to remove the other males.

I say you should move the Father, Mother, and egg to a another cage so the other males don't break the egg or start a fight with the Father male. And after the egg hatches keep it with its Mother and Father just to be safe
