So a few weeks ago my parent's found out that I've been talking to and hanging out with someone that is 25 years older than me (I'm 18 he's 43). Dumb me, wasn't entirely honest with them about this guy because I was afraid they'd freak and say I couldn't even be friends with him.

I know they are just watching out for me and being my parents, but I just wish they would calm down. They did freak out a little, because I did lie about who I was hanging out with and well I do admit kind of throws you off a little.

Though they seem to be kind of okay with it, they let me still chat with him and I haven't asked about hanging out but that too however, I know it still kind of bugs them. I've always had good judgement and I seriously doubt he just wants me for...um...to get in my pants. I've known him for a while and have hung out with him a few times that I think if he just wanted s*x he'd would have made his move by now. His intentions seem to be right.

Furthermore, while I deny it because well I deny this no matter what guy it is, I do like him as more than a friend. So it wouldn't be as simple as just ending the friendship or something like that if that's what you would suggest.

Regardless, in advance thanks for any and all advice.

  1. what the h**l is a 43 year old man doing hanging out with an 18 year old girl?!

  2. You're an adult, so it's really your own business who you hang out with.  That said, your parents have a right to be concerned--especially with the age difference.  Stay friends with him, but remember--he is on a different page of his life than you are, and he may not be interested in you as more than a friend.

  3. You're 18, which = adult. You have to cut the parental strings and make your own decisions.

  4. I SAY IF YOU LIKE THIS GUY IT IS OK. JUST BE CAREFUL.THERE IS NO TELL WHAT HAPPEN IF YOU FIND SOMEONE YOUNGER

  5. You don't have to explain yourself to your parents. You're an adult. End of story.
