I live with my dad. I've been thinking about moving in with my mother...because of some issues...I'd just like to live with her for a little while....Would this be possible? I'm going to talk to my mother and my father when my mother comes to visit next month.....Just to make sure...

  1. It should be unless your parents object or because of custody issues.

  2. You are working out your future plans.  If the school systems are equivalent then your parents may be able to accommodate your wishes.   I think you are going about your request in a mature way.  You are meeting with both parents and not plotting to impose your will on them by some scheme.  I hope all three of you will listen and learn why you want to transfer to the custody of your  mom.  Your reasons need not be set forth in a public forum like this thread.   I get the sense that you have a reasonable ground for seeking the change.  Again, try to respect the decision your parents make after all the issues are aired.   Good luck.

  3. When my parent divorced, the judge allowed us (kids) to decide where we wanted to live.  We chose Dad.  However, we were allowed to change our minds and some of my brothers did.

I believe you are allowed to make you own decision after the age of 13.  Unless there are legal reason the court does not want you with one or the other parent, I see no problem with you making the change.
