so i'm 16, and use self-tanner. my parents hate it. they call me out on it, and i lie to thier face about it. i know... it's bad, but anyways. this morning they called me out, i lied, and they gave a lecture, and told me to bring it to them. so i did, and my dad said if he ever sees me wearing it again he's kicking me out of the house. and my parents also said that "this isn't about the self-tanner, it's about lying to us."

but now their really mad at me, and it's ackward to be around them and everything. how to fix this??

  1. Stop lying to your parents.  They don't deserve that disrespect.  Apologize to them and explain why you lied to them about the tanner.  (How are they supposed to know that you're not lying about other things, too?)

You have to build trust back with them.  That will take time.  Sorry, no overnight solution for this one.

  2. How to fix it? Use your brain girl...

    Stop lying

Stop doing things you know they disapprove of

It's just that simple. You aren't going to die if you don't use self-tanner...and lying just makes you a sh*tty person. When you lie, you are saying it's okay for others to lie to you.

Start acting like a young lady, and not a self-absorbed child who expects to get their way, and break rules with no consequences. You know the rules, so abide by them. Doesn't sound all that difficult.

  3. simple.

    stop lying.

their house. their rules. dont like it? find another home.

harsh? yes. but sometimes its necessary.

  4. WOW!  This is so easy to answer!

Until you are 18, you live under your parents roof and you live by their rules.

    That's it!  Simple, isn't it?

Seriously, you are the child of your parents and at this point they sort of "own" you.  They invested a lot of time and money in giving birth and raising you.  Do as they say until you are on your own and making your own decisions.  One day you will be glad you did!

I don't know what their objection is to tanning products but it could that they believe that it could play a part in skin cancers.  And you know, it really could.  We don't know that yet.

Listen...love your parents.  Do as they say.  Let them raise you their way!  (besides, self tanners look phoney!)  LOL
