It's high school, so i kind of want to have a life that i want to remember, not studying all the time. Do you think I have to be totally committed? If I always got grade higher than 95s in middle school, do you think Ill be successful in highschool?

  1. You won't get a scholarship from grades alone. You need good grades and a LOT of community service or good grades and GREAT athletic ability.

  2. Start researching now for scholarships -- and see what you want to focus on. They have scholarships for pretty much everything. Anything from sports to making special achievements in different academic categories to just getting a good grade on state standardized testing to being legally blind or having diabetes for goodness sake. Just look around.

As for sports, a number of people I went to high school with got scholarships for sports.. and then either got them pulled by getting injured or being caught with drugs. Twice. So if you go that route, keep it in mind.

And seriously, if your parents are telling you to get a scholarship now, tell them to lay off! You have four years! You can do well in high school without studying your butt off.

  3. Visit GrantS.tv

It's a great source of scholarships and grants.

  4. You will have greater chances of getting a scholarship if your GPA and class rank and admission test scores ACT/SAT are as high as possible.  Sports and volunteering and extra curricular are okay, but really just "filler" to support the gpa and test scores.  If you don't have that , you won't get anything as far as money goes for college.

Think of it this way.... work hard in high school so you have have a great "life to remember" in college. That is when you have the real fun, plus get the added bonus of being able to get a great job (and being able to support yourself) is an absolute necessity unless you want to be 40 and living in your parents basement.

Have too much fun in high school and you'll be popping out babies as a high school dropout and relying on some looser who hasn't a clue what the real world is like or how to think of anyone other than himself.
