My parents are too strict!?

Question

i am 14 years old and my parents treat me like a baby!

when i first started wearing makeup my dad used to moan and say im too young but ive sorted that. i have to go to bed at 10 on weekdays when every1 else goes 11 or 12

ive never been out by myself anywhere at all unless the corner shop cos it is near

my friends keep iniviting me to their party or to their house and they say no all the time,they say its because they dnt know who they are and think they are pervs, or boys are gonna hit on me at the party.i dont know what to say to them.i aint even allowed a boyfriend

You call that too strict?? You'd die with some other people's parents. Some kids aren't even allowed to go the corner. Some kids have to go to bed at 9:00. Lots of girls aren't even allowed to date until 16. Some kids can't wear makeup at all. They are a bit overprotective, sure. Maybe next time there is a party, ask them to drop you off and check out the place before they leave you there, and have a set time you'll be home.

i think your parents aren't tooo strict they love you and want to protect you i think teens shouldn't be allowed to date till at least 16 and sometimes that is too young plus you should set higher standards for your self and actmore responsible to help yo0ur parents think you are responsible to do all the things you would like to do.

If you want to be treated like an adult or young adult heres the hard facts.  When you leave school at say 16 expect to hand your entire wage packet over to your mum.  After 3 months of this i had enough and left for good i haven't seen my family for 20 years.  You got yourself good parents there don't blow them away just because your pissed off with them.

grow up, be a bit more mature about the situation...after all you are 14.

have a talk with your parents and explain how you feel, DONT go into a strop, accept their answer and they may reconsider due to your maturity.

tell them that you know that there only being strict to help and protect you but thet your growing up and that your parents carnt control you forever. but dont be to harsh os they could think that your trying to push them out of your life. so ask if your friend could come to your house first then when there mom and dad come to pick her up your mom and dad can get to know her mom and dad then ask if you can go to her house. as for going to bed at ten ask if you can go to bed at 10:15 then gradually  ask if you can stay up longer and longer until your going to bed at 11.

some parents let their kids run riot... and those kids usualy have no respect for their parents at the end of the day, and usualy wish their parents cared more.

Maybe they seem strict now, but you'll appriciate it once your older.

I'm 16 and have almost all of that(besides makeup since I'm a guy). But I don't go around complaining about it...seriously there are way more strict parents than yours, in fact yours are really good. They care about you, and one day when you didn't throw your life away at a party they wouldn't let you go to......you'll thank them.

Im not aloud out of my village without a parent! Im 16 and have to go bed at 9.30!! Town is a no go! and my friends all moan at me! haha life sucks the way we're restricted but its 'cause your parents care.

omg ! i know exactly how u feel! its worse for me tho cuz i have CRAZY INDIAN strict parents so yea they're horrible...and paranoid and the annoying thing is my mom says she wants me to have friends and a social life and all that but when it comes to tht she freaks out! and its worse w/ non-indian ppl (@ least u dont have tht problem lol the race thing).....i dont know y indian parents feel more comfortable if thier kids are w/ indian ppl

well you are only 14, and you're acting exactly like a typical immature 14 year old...if you want them to see you as being mature...ACT LIKE IT...don't throw a tantrum when they say no...accept it...in years to come you'll be glad that they protected you...

when they do let you out, if they tell you to let them know where you are, for goodness sake do so...or they'll worry and they won't let you out again for a long time...

I thought my parents were too strict, but when I got older I really appreciated them caring so much. And making me come home earlier than my friends was a good thing as my mates got up to no good late at night.  14 is still young - why don't you invite your girlfriends over and have a party at your house?  You can still have fun, believe me you will thank your parents one day!
