My parents bought me a car, but...?

I feel really guilty, because after going to about 15 dealers with them, the one time they went without me, they chose a car, and I really hate it. I feel guilty because it's a really nice car, but it really looks like an old person's car. I'm upset, because, while I'm not picky about what car I have (esp. if my parents are paying for it,) my only request was that it's not trashy looking or like an old person's car. I know that I should be grateful that my parents bought me a car, and I am, but I am truly embarrassed to drive it. It looks like something my 70-year-old grandmother would drive.

My question is, how do I respectfully let my parents know that I'm upset about this car and I don't want to drive it, but that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get their money back and find another car?

You probably can't get their money back. In California (I don't know where you are) there is a law where you can't change your mind about a car and return it. I forget what it is called though.

I am sorry but I know how you feel. The very very last color I wanted in a car was green. we went to every dealership in the area. Guess what color my car is...green.

Don't worry about it. Nobody really cares what your car looks like. My first car was a 1982 nissan sentra hatchback type. It was a pos, but I could drive.

they probably chose one they felt you would be safe in, did you tell them what cars you liked? what did they say about them?

Be happy that your parents bought you a car and leave it at that. I had to save up to buy a car and all I could afford at the time was a 12 year old tri colored piece of junk that was so run down the odometer didn't work any more. But hey I had a car that was mine and when I was ready I got a nicer one.

If your parents bought you a new car you will in no way get your money back they depreciate the second you drive off the lot. If it was used you can try selling it out right. But if I was you I would just be thankful.

lol ok i was the same as you when my parents bought me my toaster on wheels (06 scion xb lol). that was about 4 months ago and trust me, after awhile you'll just love your car.

honestly, at this point, they can't really get their money back. they probably already put a down payment on it so heck, i say go with it and make it your own! get cool stuff for the inside, cool license plate covers. just have fun with it! :D make it your own awesome car

also, haha its not an old person car!! those are so nice!

Just be thankful that you have a car.  I know it sucks, but you have to deal with it.  It's not that easy, you can't get a refund on a car.
