My parents got a new house and rented out the old house to me and a friend of the family.

my roommate skipped out and hasnt paid for 2 months so they evicted her.on sat my mom says we need you to move out this week and move back home and pay the same amount rent. im in the shower today and i hear voices outside the bathroom. my dad is there showing the house to a family and i am stuck upstairs in the bathroom for an hour because their are strangers down stairs. can they do this stuff?

If there is no legal documents on paper then yes they can.

If you wanted to stay there, then you should have asked your parents for legal documents on paper otherwise... they have every right to do this to you unfortunately.

Here is a very easy answer to your question:

Your parents own, you rent.  All they have to do is give you a 30-day notice to get out.

If you want to destroy the relationship with your parents, then tell them they have to give you a 24 hour notice anytime they want to be on the property.

If they violate that, technically you could have them arrested for breaking and entering.  But the question is, do you really want to do that?

You do have a whole list of "protections" that the law give you for your privacy.   You could really make life difficult for Dad.  He has to give you 48 hour written notice before every single "showing".  I am a landlord.  Tell Dad that you have gotten good advice and you now know your rights and plan to enforce them.  He will know you are serious.
