I'm 14 in Australia so I can't get a real job yet.

I need money, so I decided on neighbourhood jobs e.g. babysitting, dogwalking, cleaning ...

But my mum hates it! She tells me I should focus on school! But guess what! I got STRAIGHT As 3 TIMES IN A ROW! AND SHE"S STILL NOT SATISFIED.

What should I do to get money?

  1. Work secretly. Without your parents' consent, and without them understanding it. But an easier way is to ask your parents for money. Since they are the problem between you and a future salary, they are also responsible for it.

  2. There is no reason why you can't get a job and still focus on your school, it's done all the time to make extra money.

  3. Charge other kids at school to do their homework for them. That way your parents will think you are studying, but you are making money instead! Actually maybe you shouldn't do that, don't listen to me. Sorry, can't help you.

  4. Yes but if u start to work - you will STOP getting straight A's - the laws for work are there for a reason babes, perhaps ask your mum to up your allowance maybe - or start giving you one if she doesnt already. i understand where ure coming from though - the world is getting so expensive to live in!

  5. Ask her for a compromise. Ask if you can work a couple days or evenings, or perhaps on Saturday. And, if your grades begin to fall, or if you are too tired or not spending enough family time, then you will quit.

Don't go against their wishes. Ask why she feels this way. If could be something from her past, and she is afraid you will make a mistake.

  6. if i were you ,

    1st thing i were ask myself  ,

Why Do i need money in The 1st places ?

2nd thing is  asking myself ,

Y do they Hates the the idea of working ?

    Problem :

    Parents mind :

My Child will Spend all the hardworking money

    for unuseful Purposes ?

    So what Your Mind ?

isn't True that you parent know that you will spend the money you earn to buy thing ?

unless you say For your future Plans

Start saving now , maybe your parents will let you go work

cos you plan for your futurE?

  7. Talk to her about why you want to work. Tell her if you get a job SHE wont have to give you money for shopping and you can buy it yourself. Making it seem like youre taking pressure of her may make her think of it in a new way!

  8. because those jobs are **** right now, just relax and ask them for money while you can't get a decent job yet

  9. im a student ... i do not need much money.. i just need allowance to buy me food during breaks at school.

i'm doing good at school. school gives me  lots of problem since im developing a software for a company with no charge as our project.

but i do earn money on paid to click sites. not that big i just visit them to wear of my boredom. d**n i'm so bored here.

i joined at about 7-8 paid to click sites and paid surveys so far i have less than 100$  all added up in 3 days.

i find them quite entertaining hehehe...

by the way i just spend around 1-2hr a day for 10 websites.

also use a paid search engine . they pay me every time i search using their search engine.

anyways i just do these things to kill my boredom.

  10. Have you thought about setting up your own website!?

You can get a free one at   http://www.blogger.com   A blog is like a diary that you can write daily entries in.  How about writing about your frustrations as a 14 year old?   If you have a  http://www.myspace.com  account you could link your blog to this or even to your  http://www.facebook.com   account if you have one!?

Install some Adsense ads on your blog  (http://www.Adsense.com) and promote your blog by telling all your friends and family about it!   You might want to set up your own Squidoo lens at   http://www.squidoo.com  and link this lens to your blog too!

Next, I would suggest that you write some articles about your pet topics and submit them to  http://www.ezinearticles.com  and leave a link to your blog in the bio box!

As a further step you could open an account at   http://www.Digg.com  and promote interesting news articles and ask your Digg friends to digg them!  On your profile (with nice photo of you) leave a link to your blog to attract traffic!

When people click on the Adsense ads on your blog you will get paid some money!  The more people that visit your blog and click on the ads, the more you get paid!  It's as simple as that!

    Best to You!

    Dave.

  11. Babysitting is a good way to earn money, plussss you can get homework done when the kids go to bed!

Dog walking is something I do often. It's a great way to earn spare cash, and it's not time consuming at all.

Tell her you need to learn to balance work and school, it's all part of learning to be a responsible adult.

  12. It depends on what you need the money for. I would say enjoy your youth.

  13. see if your mum wwill let you work only on weekends or during school breaks..that might be a better idea

  14. Just remember that LIFE is short.

Your parents are probably wanting you to ENJOY life because it wont be long where you HAVE to work.

Right now your money is for fun things.  Soon you will have bills and responsibilities that MUST be paid.

Do your parents have the ability to give you any money at all?

What are you using the work money for?

You should get the A's and try to do as many things that dont involved money.  Especially in your part of the world!

  15. It isn't that your mother doesn't want you to have any money, it is that as a grown up we know that you are a long time grown. Once you start there is no end in sight, and she just doesn't want you o go there yet. figure out just how much money you really need and then talk to your mum. You don't say whether you live in the city or country. If you live in the country. ask about raising a cow or chickens and sell at market. If you live in the city ask her about if you do some chores for her if she would pay you a little bit so that you could not have to go to "work" but still could earn some pocket money
