  1. most companies will let you do this and charge a monthly fee of about $5 to do so, call them and ask to have it changed over

  2. Welcome to the real world.

  3. Probably not.  You've had 6 months to save up the amount you knew it would cost you to renew the policy.

It would depend on your age, and your credit rating as to whether or not they will accept monthly payments from you.  If they do, there will be a surcharge and it will cost you more.

  4. It depends on the insurance company. After you're done with the 6 months you'll receive a renewal offer. Most companies will offer you to pay 6 months paid in full, or do it on installment plans. The only thing with installment plans is overall you'll pay more, for they add on a "billing fee" to each month for sending you the bill. That won't matter of course if you're on a budget. Usually they'll offer you a pay off amount during your contract as well.

  5. Ask the insurance company or broker.

If they do let you do it, it will be more expensive, split payments are always dearer.

Are you sure you can actually afford to run a car? If you have this much trouble now, how will you cope if premiums go up?
