my mom and dad are both schizophrenic so i live with my grandparents. they're from jamaica and they're so superstitious. they adopted me a few months ago but i was living with them for 7 years before that. i have really hairy legs and arms and little hairs on my abdomen so i got tired of it so i took one of my grandfather's razors and i started to shave my legs in the shower and my grandmother caught me. she told me to put the razor down and go dry off so i did. later when she fell asleep, i got the razor again, finished shaving the leg i was shaving then i started with my other leg and she caught me again! this time she pinched my ear and yelled really loud at me! so i put the razor down (again...) and i just gave up for the rest of the day. the next morning i finished shaving my leg in the shower with the door locked. and then i dried off and put on my clothes.... and then... i started to shave one of my arms lol and then my grandmother knocked on the door because she wanted to p**p. so i hid the razor and i opened the door. my grandmother saw that one of my arms were hairy and one wasnt... so she gave me a dirty look and told me she was going to tell my aunt what im doing. she always does that. threaten me. then she called my aunt told her a bunch of lies about how im scraping my skin and im bleeding and stuff and those where all lies... and she said im turning mentally ill like my mother!!!! what?!!!! because im going through puberty and im trying to look my best im mentally ill?!!!! im 14 and i really dont want to live with these people anymore! what should i do to make them know im not mentally ill?!

  1. chill out.  old people are sometimes nuts.

    shaving is COMPLETELY NORMAL.

i wouldnt do the arms. but thats just me.

its actually not normal if you DONT shave.

explain your need for personal hygiene.

dont worry about cutting yourself.  thats what bandaids are for.  you'll get better at it if you do it more often.  i STILL cut myself almost every time.

    good luck<3

  2. Thats some of the funniest stuff I have ever heard. But on a serious note why does she think you are hurting your self and tell your aunt that. I think you need to let your grandmother know whats going on, im 14 and im growing up, I dont wont to look like no hairy wolf so just let her know theres nothing wrong with you and sit down and talk to her about it. As far as u not living with them, let your aunt know then. Good luck.

  3. Wait, you said you were adopted so are these people your real genetic family? Also, you should find someone more in with the western culture in your family, and talk to them and tell them to set your grandma straight and tell her its normal. I was in a similar situation, and I was afraid to ask the other family member to tell mine that it was normal, but once I did it wasn't as bad.

  4. Sounds like they make think it's in your genes. Maybe you should talk to her and just tell her that you wanted to shave because you felt too harry. that hair is going to grow back and maybe darker/thicker so if you want to keep shaving without the problems talk to her. Maybe there is something in her beliefs that says you shouldnt shave, either way you will both know what the other is thinking about this issue.

  5. lol.

just tell them wut u told us.

    ur growing up
