My parents want to control everything about my love-life!?

I've only just started to think about dating, and already my parents are telling me what they'll do if they don't like who I'm going out with.

It's ridiculous. As I'm almost 18 (and living in Quebec, Canada where you can drink or whatever at 18!), I don't think they need to know who I'm going out with. If I decide to go out with someone who's older than me, or who's from a different culture, who cares?!

What's your opinion on this? Should I feel guilty about not telling them who I'm dating? Or is this fine for a girl who'll be 18 soon?

As unpopular as it might be, I believe as long as you live under their roof and they pay your bills there isn't much you can do.  You just need to talk to them when they tell you they don't like someone.  Maybe you can work the issue out. Remember that guys come and go but you are stuck with your parents forever.

as long as you live with them, their rules you follow, when you move out you dont have to give them any information about who your seeing.
