I started school last tuesday and hate everything about it there (the teachers, switching classes the school in general.) I have looked into home school and would want to do an independent study program which my school offers. I talked i over with my parents and they said I need to "give it more of a chance." What should I do???? I can not stand it there!!!!!!

  1. I'm home schooled and it sucks.

    Stay in school.

  2. If you are home schooled, your parents would either have to take charge of your education, or hire someone.  All depends on how much time they have, or money to hire someone, right?

Yes, give it more time, because adjusting to school sometimes causes some trauma.  Try to get close to one or two of your teachers for extra support, and visit your counseling center to discuss personal problems.  This type of support, you may not get at home, and you are paying for public education already with your (or parents) property taxes.

Someday you will be self-supporting, and have to move from job to job, or assignment to assignment, and work with all types of people, many of which you may not like, or even fear to be around.

Public schools help you get through these emotions, and teach you that everyone has something to offer, and learn that things that used to be hard, become easier, when you have a good support group, and lots of friends.

Join a club at school that shares some of the interests you most want to learn, like debate, acting, forencis, sports, ect.

  3. I know it depends on the person but I've been home schooled for the past 3 years IT SUCKS! stay in school I have never been so lazy! I used to beg my mom to be home schooled and now I'm begging togo back to school!

  4. I love regular high school but this year I'm being home schooled. it does have its advantages. I'm taking college classes and online classes. Some of the college classes I'm getting high school and college credit for. I play traveling sports and it's actually better for scouts to find you I've been told. There are clubs and field trips stuff still. My home school program is cool about paying for a bunch of extra things like Rosetta stone, they pay for some of the college classes, field trips are at a huge discount, and a lot of other things regular schools wouldn't. You can choose to take certain classes like science labs for example on campus. They also have a wide range of other classes available that most regular schools couldn't offer such as animal science classes at ranches hands on, or up to date high tech classes. Need any more info? Oh also I'd like to add I finish my high school classes about 11am if i start at 8. You get more time back! Reading other responses I'd like to add your parents don't have to stay home if you take your classes online.

  5. homeschooling is great!! i've been home schooled for the past eight years and i have loved every year. the ppl who wrote that it sucked and made them fat are just looking for something to blame their problems on. it's true that home schooling needs an active interest in it to work, you have to be willing to challenge yourself in your subjects(so if you're not self motivated, don't try it) if you want to talk to your parents again, maybe you can make a deal. you can take responsibility for doing you're subjects, but maybe they can check it over. you're schools program may be too expensive, so talk about maybe taking classes at community college or on your own. they may be open to the idea just a little skeptical. (  and don't worry home schooling doesn't make you antisocial or lazy, if you are willing to try)

  6. Hi,

There are a lot of things to consider when you homeschool.

Maybe your parents are worried about the workload that they will have in order to homeschool you.

There is also the concern of maintaining the standard of education.

The following articles will explain the concerns more :

Remember, the decision requires a lot of commitment on your part as well as your parents'.

Hope this helped. Good luck !!

  7. Give it more of a chance and then speak to them again about it in a couple of weeks. During those two weeks, keep a journal of all the things that go on that could support your desire to leave.

  8. Look my kid who has problems wants to be home schooled again, he loved it.

But he needs to learn how society is. I told him we are going to let the school have a chance to honor there promises they made me and my kid. If they do not honor there promises I will pull my child again from the failing public school system.

My autistic, epileptic disabled child is now in a class that is pretty new and he loves it.   If they ever took this class away he too will be home schooled for he has many problems in the public school too, bullies manly and he has learning problems.

Many parents realize home schooling a child takes a lot. I did it before I got hurt and I am not sure I personally can do it again, but I am not going to tell my kids this.

Give public school a chance. When you turn 16, in our state anyway, then you will have a say. Until then you have to do what your parents thinks is best. Depending on where you live.

Good luck ok....there are computer classes too!

  9. I think I know how this feels, I'm being forced to go to a very strict private school.

I also think you should try and think about this from your parent's perspective, as well. I was in homeschooling for about four months, and the costs were very high, so I was taken out. Not to mention one of your parent's have to stay home, to home school you.

I know I didn't help with your problem, just making my views heard. (:

  10. I think you should give it another week and if you still don't like it , ask your parents to put you in another school. Homeschooling SUCKS! trust me, it was the worst choice i've ever made.

  11. Have you read this article about talking to your parents about homeschooling.http://virtualonlineschool.blogspot.com/

Above al be respectful and be really responsible. They need to see you doing well.

    Best of Luck!

  12. Wait until your grades come out and then try again.  But remember those grades need to be as high as you can possibly get them so your parents will trust you to work at home.

And my daughter never wanted to go to public school.  She loved homeschooling.  Of course we were on a farn and a lot of her Phys. Ed credits came from horse back riding.

BTW your parent's have the last say and get the heat if you don't do well.
