with the Gondoliers in Venice, will there be a problem with a g*y male couple taking a romantic ride in a gondola

Don't think so. If they do make jokes or anything you do not like, make it clear to the gondolier. Or blackmail him not to pay the ride!

Anyway, as they're so keen on making money, I'm sure no-one will say a thing about you and your partner.

Millions of people ride gondolas in Venice every year... Gondoliers (gondolieri) don't care what or who you are as long as you pay for the ride.
