Any ideas as to where to stay, what to see, and where to dine? We are 44 and 58. Not into bar scene.

  1. I recommend you stay somewhere near King and Spadina.  If I would stay on King Street east.  It's a nice, clean street with plenty of fine restaurants and mature clubs (but for the career set, 25, 30, 40 years etc if you know what I mean... places to go dancing).   It is a good place for an out of towner to stay because it is a really safe area (its devoid of homeless people and drug addicts--  depending on where you are from, they may make you feel extremely uncomfortable or otherwise scare you), is peaceful at night  and at the same time it is walking distance to everything (i.e. shopping, restaurants, parks, the harbour, the financial district).

I don't know your personal tastes to make you particular recommendations, but I am sure you will love Harbourfront.  It's the area right by the coast (a 20 minute walk from King).  There is an art museum and a marina along with a dock and several restaurants with terraces meters from the water.  On the other side of the Marina is a Second Cup  with  a beautiful terrace in front of the marina, where you can have you coffee with a perfect view of the water.  Farther east it be comes a large dock with with parks to just sit, relax and just enjoy the beauty of the wild.

I don't know whether you are looking to connect with Toronto's g*y community,  but you can also check out Church Street.  There are a lot of bars and pubs (just like many other streets) but also cafes, clothing stores and anything else you may expect from a fun street.

You may also want to check out the ROM (the Royal Ontario Museum)  and the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) on Dundas.
