  1. Sorry to hear this happened to you and your partner.  Zebra crossings are used like they are here in the UK where the cars stop to allow the pedestrians to cross they don't even use traffic lights properly if it's red they go if it's green they go they only time they will obey is when a police man is standing writing the number plates of the offenders.  If you have insurance then you will may be able to claim but as others have said there isn't very much you can do now that you are not in Egypt.  sorry.

  2. As a traveller abroad you should have had travel insurance and so long as you went and had your injuries assessed by a qualified medical practioner and the accident was reported to the Luxor police within 24 hours your insurance company will follow it up on your behalf so long as you send all the documentaion with your claim.

However you cannot make a travel insurance claim and pursue other means of compensation.

If you neglected to get travel insurance, then unfortunately you are going to have to put it down to a lesson hard learned.

It would be almost impossible to start an investigation and seek compensation now you are back home.

Compensation is an issue that is not often pursued over accidents and injuries sustained in Egypt and it may cost you more money with very little gain as the person responsible likely has no insurance and very little assets.

I had my car damaged and found out the person had no insurance and could never have paid for the damages in years of repayment even though it was only a side panel of a Tarago SUV. He was a guy with children and I didn't want to have him sent to jail over a dent so dropped my claim against him and just claimed it on my insurance even though in doing so I have my no claim bonus..

Such is life in Luxor, we live and learn.

  3. Seriously?????

  4. now that's a story, haha

  5. Nothing you can do now since you are now in Egypt. You might have been able to get someone to listen to you right after the accident. But not now, that is just how things are in Egypt!

  6. The only thing i can say is, if you had insurance & have been hurt, then you could make a claim, but you would have had to have reported it while in Egypt.

I'm afraid i dont think you'll have much joy getting anything otherwise, but good luck.

  7. Stay away from zebras from now on.
