In drama class we were assigned partners to interview each other. Some of the questions we have to ask each other are what's your family like or what was your fav summer movie. So what characters should we play. We are doing it in front of the class and this is my first time acting in front of people. what clothes do you suggest we wear. One idea was I pretend to be a dork and he pretend to be an emo. But I feel that we can be better.

  1. Have one of you dress up like a vampire, and it can be your own "Interview with the Vampire". You'll probably get brownie points from your teacher for doing something like this as opposed to the dork interviewing the emo.

You can dress up in black clothes, get a cape if you like, and visit a prop shop and get vampire fangs.

    You can ask questions like:

    - Are you vegetarian? (for the Twilight fans)

    - What happens if you go into the sunlight?

    - Do you like sleeping in a coffin?

    - What's your favourite vampire flick?

  2. One of you could be 3 years old and "wear" waterwings or some other pool toy, plus carry one of those lollypops about 6" in diameter.  That one would have to be very serious and keep a straight face.

The other one could be an internet reporter trying to cover the Dem. or Repub. convention.

  3. Use your imaginations!  There's nothing wrong with being super-heroes talking about everyday things...  In fact, since most people don't associate the two concepts, it could be pretty funny if you worked it right.  Imagine Wolverine from the X-Men....  He has no memory of who he is.  He can be tortured and poignant when you ask what his family is like, because he has no idea, but he'd be tough and fight back the tears of loneliness.  Ask Spiderman what his favorite movie is, and he says "Arachnophobia": an amusing answer coming from him since arachnophobia is an intense fear of spiders.

All you really have to do is imagine a persona- something or someone you wouldn't mind trying out for a little while- then think thoughtfully about what that person's or thing's answer would be.  You could even pretend to be something as odd as an over-stuffed easy chair, as long as you made your answers sound authentic...  Something like "What's your family like?" could be answered by an easy chair  with: "Well, there's an awful lot of us, and we're all very comfortable...  Although my cousin Jerry's an eyesore because his owners recently reupholstered him in a God-awful neon pink and baby-poo-brown floral print, but in all honesty, is that really his fault?  And then there's the extended family: pine trees on my father Stanley's side who are all rather shady characters, and cotton plants on my mother Sheila's side that never really say much but seem like decent people."  Just as long as the answer is honest and true to the character you portray, you're sure to get a good grade.  Be innovative!

Just make sure you stay within the parameters of the assignment and don't go over your time limit.  Good luck!
