Any suggestions of cottages on a farm or near the beach where we can have total privacy?

  1. The ring of Kerry is beautiful but may be cold at this time of year. Dunmore East in Co Waterford is very quaint fishing village. Look them up on the net. But all of Ireland is beautiful with a lot of history and ancient ruins

  2. County Clare is the place to be. You can fly into Shannon.

    Check out http://www.county-clare.com

You could even stay in a self catering  castle.

    Knappogue Castle State-Room Apartment

Knappogue Castle is located in a truly picturesque setting, surrounded by the tranquil landscapes and rolling hills of Clare. Beautiful Victorian and Walled Gardens surround the Castle where one can relax or enjoy a peaceful stroll.

    History

The Castle was built in 1467 by Sean MacNamara, and is a magnificent example of a medieval tower house. It has a long and varied history ~ from a battle field to a dwelling place. In 1571 the Castle became the seat of the MacNamara Clan ~ Earls of West Clancullen.

Donagh MacNamara was a leader of the 1641 rebellion and then Knappogue remained in MacNamara hands until 1659 when it was confiscated by Cromwells parliament and granted to a ‘Roundhead’, Arthur Smith.

  3. Ballyfermot is a lovely place full of caravans and horses

  4. If you go to www.discoverireland.ie you will find links to all counties and also all types of accommodation.  Look for traditional irish cottages, eg Ballyvaughan Co. Clare as they are traditional style but with all mod cons.  Most of the west coast in Connemara has places that would suit your requirements.

    Enjoy

  5. Mayo is the only place i know about. Take the snakeeye past the remus by-pass and the viaduct. Very scenic, but do not break down on a weekend! You may be interested in the local festival near past Callnoch (Cael cnoc) Hill, in Nove.

  6. Hello,

(ANS) I have friends who moved to a little village called Dowra near Black Lion and Manor Hamilton which is near Loche Allen. I can highly recommend this area. It has outstanding wildness and unspoilt beauty which is hard to find in other places in England.

**This is just within the border of the Rep of Ireland and northern Ireland (north west Ireland).

    Hope that helps?
