My partner is lithuanian, i am a british citizen, can our daughter born here 5 days ago have dual nationality?

my partner is a lithuanian national with an LT passport, i hold a full uk passport and we were wanting our daughter who was born in the UK 5 days ago to have both LT & UK nationality, is this possible??????

  2. Lithuanian Nationality Law is really confusing. Actually, there are current debates going on about it and there have been since 2006. The law, as is currently written, does not allow for dual-citizenship I believe. I am having trouble going through it.

  3. As it stands now, your daughter cannot have a dual citizenship.  It's been a very controversial topic for the last couple of years in Lithuania.

    Our Constitutional Court was asked to review what the law said on the subject.  The Court confirmed that dual citizenship was not allowed under the current law.  The Parliament recently wanted to change that but our president (ironically, Lithuanian-American himself) vetoed the Parliament's decision...

    It seems the law can now only be changed through a national referendum.  Unfortunately, I do not see it happening any time soon...
